Jacco Gardner è un cantautore olandese polistrumentista  che fa canzoni psichedeliche chiaramente influenzate da Syd Barrett ,il primo cantante della band inglese Pink Floyd .Gardner definisce il suo repertorio come ' pop barocco ' per distinguersi da band neopsychedelische come Black Angels e Brian Jonestown Massacre.Attraverso le raccolte di suo padre Gardner scopre Pink Floyd ,Soft Machine e un documentario su Syd Barret.Il musicista entra profondamente nella musica psichedelica,garage e beat.Ascolta la musica di Sagittarius , Billy Nicholls e Curt Boettcher .
            Jacco Gardner (9 aprile 1988) studia la produzione musicale a Hilversum . La sua prima band seria è il duo Skywalkers insieme al suo migliore amico,il batterista Hugo van de Poel . Più tardi ,Gardner mixa il secondo album del duo di Amsterdam The Secret Love Parade e il secondo album " I start to believe You" ( 2012) della band Lola Kite.

 
       Prima di compiere 24 anni ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto " Cabinet of curiosites ", uscito a febbraio 2013 tramite Trouble In Mind con  recensioni entusiaste in riviste inglesi e americane come il New Musical Express , The Guardian e il sito Pitchfork . Ad esempio , il New Musical Express ,che normalmente  non presta mai attenzione alla musica dei Paesi Bassi , ha messo Gardner in cima alle proprie preferenze .
        Gardner ha registrato e suonato ogni strumento tranne la batteria , dopo aver imparato flauto , clarinetto, basso, chitarra, tastiere e violino da bambino . Da adulto ha preso confidenza con il clavicembalo , mellotron , flauto e organo , perché sono tutti parte della sua tavolozza di musica pop .
           Jacco Gardner  incarna lo spirito dei The Beach Boys nella canzone che apre l'album " Clear The air " (può tirare fuori clavicembali e leggerissimi synth perché sono integrati da enormi tamburi  ) . Ogni traccia ,sembra una  favola raccontata prima di addormentarsi, soprattutto con l'acustica " Watching the moon " . Ma il Syd Barrett - infuso tristezza di "The One Eyed king " ci ricorda che le decapitazioni esistono nei tribunali del re , e la " Lullaby " di Gardner fa perdere i sensi ai suoi ascoltatori con la morte che sussurra ,"Io vi seppellirò" .Come quelle favole che tanto  si ricordano con affetto , il debutto di Gardner è indimenticabile

   
Jacco Gardner is a Dutch multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who makes psychedelic songs that are clearly  influenced by Syd Barrett, the first singer of British band Pink Floyd. Gardner supports his repertoire under the heading 'baroque pop' to distinguish themselves from neopsychedelische bands like Black Angels and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Through the collection of his father discovered Gardner plates of Pink Floyd and Soft Machine and a documentary about Syd Barrett. The musician deeply into psychedelic music, garage and beat. He listens to music of Sagittarius, Billy Nicholls and Curt Boettcher.
            Jacco Gardner (April 9, 1988) is studying music production in Hilversum. His first serious band is the duo The Skywalkers along with his best friend, drummer Hugo van de Poel. Later, Gardner mixes the second album by the Amsterdam duo The Secret Love Parade and the second album “I Start To Believe You” (2012) of the band Lola Kite.
       Even before the age of 24 he released his debut album “Cabinet of Curiosities” releases in February 2013 via Trouble In Mind, appear enthusiastic pieces in British and American media such as New Musical Express, The Guardian and Pitchfork website. For example, the British music magazine New Musical Express, normally almost never paid attention to music from the Netherlands, ended up puting Gardner at the top of their list.
        Gardner recorded and engineered playing every instrument himself save the drums, having mastered recorder, clarinet, bass, guitar, keyboards and violin as a child. As an adult he also appears to have got to grips with the harpsichord, mellotron, flute and organ, because they're all part of his chamber-pop palette.

           Jacco Gardner eerily channel the spirit of The Beach Boys at their most morose on the album’s opener “Clear the Air” (can pull off harpsichords and featherlight synths because they're complemented by huge, echoing drums) and the hand-spun “Puppets Dangling”. Each track listens as one remembers hearing a bedtime story, especially with the majestic hums of the acoustic “Watching the Moon”. But the Syd Barrett-infused gloom of “The One Eyed King” reminds you that beheadings coexist amongst the king’s courts, and Gardner’s “Lullaby” to his listener swoons with death as he whispers, -I will bury you.
            And right when a song starts to get stale, he also knows exactly when to inject a bold new element. “Summer's Game” starts off pretty spare, but right when it begins to overstay its welcome around the midpoint, the percussive backbone kicks in and carries the song to the finish. It also helps that Gardner has an ear for melody-- his singsong sensibility makes the sweet, sad album closer “The Ballad of Little Jane” an easy highlight.
           Like those fables we so fondly remember, Gardner’s debut is unforgettable
